Stem Cell Therapy
Injecting PRP, or platelet-rich plasma extracted from your own blood, is a popular procedure because it is legal, easy to learn, and relatively inexpensive. However, it is not a form of stem cell therapy, as many people believe. The confusion is perpetuated by practitioners promoting PRP for aesthetics and sexual rejuvenation as being a ‘stem cell’ therapy.
PRP is, however, often used to accelerate the repair of tissues done by the stem cells. It is believed that PRP can both increase the number of stem cells and ‘guide’ them by creating a healing environment – basically, they determine what type of cells the stem cell needs to be.
